I am sharing this newly made pattern inspired by Kim\u2019s design \u2013 the\nMinju ruffled paneled mini dress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This dress features an slightly above the knee length (I just lengthen\nit a bit in comparison to the original dress \u2013 I know many of you do not want\nto show off too much legs, of course, if you want it short, just cut off some\nfrom the hem). The yoke is made with contrast color. You can experiment with\nmixing different color combos, or some embroidery decorations \u2013 and see how\nbeautiful it may turn out to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pattern is made using layered PDF, please check for your desired size\nbefore printing so you won\u2019t waste your paper. If you still do not know how to\nprint a layered PDF, please check for the instruction here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can print this using your home printer and A4\/Letter paper. I\ncalculated the printing area so that you will be able to use either type of\npaper to print the pattern out perfectly. Always print the first page first and\ncheck with the test square if you are printing at the right scale before you\nprint out the whole pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some PC may print smaller than actual size even when you choose 100%\nscale \u2013 I don\u2019t know why this problem exist, but my HP laptop cannot print true\nto size. I have to scale up to 103% to get the right size. You may need to\ncheck with your PC to see if it prints true to size, if not, scale up a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Cutting\ninstruction:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n After taping down all the pages following the instruction, the overall layout of the pattern pieces is like this (I chose size L as sample):<\/p>\n\n\n\n The pattern pieces are to be cut as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n A. Main Front \u2013 cut 1 on fold<\/p>\n\n\n\n B. Front Yoke \u2013 cut 1 on fold<\/p>\n\n\n\n C. Main Back \u2013 cut 2<\/p>\n\n\n\n D. Back Ruffle \u2013 cut 1 on fold<\/p>\n\n\n\n E. Front facing \u2013 1 piece main fabric + 1 piece fusible interfacing<\/p>\n\n\n\n F. Back facing \u2013 cut 2 pieces main fabric + 2 pieces fusible\ninterfacing<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Sewing instruction:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Although many experienced sewers do not need a sewing instruction, I\nfind that many newbies do, not because they do not know how to sew a straight\nline or insert a zipper, but because they do not know which step comes first,\nso I just add here simple guidance of the sewing steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. Cut out all the pieces according to cutting instruction. Iron the\nfusible interfacing to the back and front facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Serge all the pieces (if needed). You can always serge later after\nsewing the seams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. Place the Front Yoke and Main Front Piece right side facing. Pin\nand sew the Joined Front Piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. Place the Back Pieces and the Joined Front Piece right side facing.\nSew the shoulder seams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n 5. Place Front Facing and Back Facing pieces right side facing. Sew the\nshoulder seams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 6. Place the Joined Facing piece and the main dress right side facing.\nPin and sew the neckline and. Turn the facing inward, sew a flat felled hem on\nthe facing. Clip the seam at the curve for a smoother neckline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 7. Pin and sew the armholes. Sew flat felled hem from the side seams\ntoward the shoulder seam. Clip the seams for smoother curve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 8. Turn the dress out from the shoulder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 9. Attach zipper closure at the back of the dress. Sew to join the\nrest of the Main Back pieces together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 10. Sew two parallel lines at the top edge of the Back Ruffle using\nlongest stitches. Pull the thread to gather fabric until it is the same length\nwith the Main Back piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 11. Place the gathered Back Ruffle and the Main Back right side\nfacing. Pin and sew the Joined Back Piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 12. Sew the side seams of the dress. Hem the dress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And there it is, a beautiful Minju mini dress! It is a really quick\nand easy project and can give you room for creativeness.
