I just decided that I will share all of the patterns on my blog for FREE from now on. I am on the way to edit all blog posts and present all download links directly in the post so that any sewing enthusiast can have access to the patterns made by me. Making patterns is still my biggest love, and I will continue to design and make and share with all of you. I have a big dream of turning Tiana’s Closet into a place where you can return for more ideas and free patterns!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today I am sharing the newest pattern that I made recently: the Rosalie elastic waist cropped pants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of my favorite style – pants that are so comfortable and good looking at the same time! It features tapered legs (and you know, carrot legged pants are trendy this year – before the COVID-19 pandemic). Of course, when you stay and work from home, this style is so much better than the ones with zippers and non-elastic waistband.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This pair of pants is also really easy to sew, too. Even a total newbie can sew these pants without much trouble. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pattern is made using layered PDF, please check for your desired size before printing so you won\u2019t waste your paper. If you still do not know how to print a layered PDF, please check the Printing Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can print this using your home printer and A4\/Letter paper. I calculated the printing area so that you will be able to use either type of paper to print the pattern out perfectly. Always print the first page first and check with the test square if you are printing at the right scale before you print out the whole pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cutting instruction:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After taping down all the pages following the instruction, the overall layout of the pattern pieces is like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pattern pieces are to be cut as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Front \u2013 2pcs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B. Back \u2013 2pcs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C. Pocket Facing \u2013 2pcs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D. Pocket Back \u2013 2pcs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E. Waistband – 1pc<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sewing instruction:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Print out the pattern, cut and tape to get all the pattern pieces ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: Place the fabric flat on the floor or table (you may need to pre-wash your fabric to prevent shrinking). Place the pattern pieces on top of the fabric, pin and cut out the fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3: Serge or run zic zag stitch along the edges of the fabric to prevent fraying (for some type of fabric like jersey knit, you don’t need to serge).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: Place the left pocket facing piece and the left front piece right sides facing, sew along the curve. Flip the pocket facing piece over to the wrong side of the main front piece, sew a flat felled seam on the pocket facing (so that the pocket facing will not turn outward).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 5: Place the pocket back piece and the pocket facing piece right side facing, sew along the curved edge. Sew a line 0.5cm (1\/4in) at the top of the pocket to secure the front waist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Repeat step 4 and 5 with the right side of the front pants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 6: Place left front piece and left back piece right side facing, sew along the side seam and the inseam. Repeat with the right side of the pants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 7: Turn one leg inside out, push it into the other leg, pin the crotch line and sew the left and right sides of the pants together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 8: Place two short ends of the waistband together right side facing and sew. Fold the waistband in half (the sewn end inside). Pin the waistband to the main pants. Sew the waistband, leaving a small opening to insert elastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 9: Insert elastic. Sew two ends of the elastic together and close the opening. You can sew one or two parallel lines on the elastic to prevent it from twisting inside the elastic casing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There you are, the Rosalie elastic waistband cropped pants. Mix it with simple T-shirt for comfort days inside, or put on a jacket for an effortless stylish outfit! You have many ways to mix your Rosalie pants and create your own unique style. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
