As you may know from my previous post, I have been busy learning new skills to become a professional pattern designer. I am so proud that I make progress day by day!

However, because professional patternmaking software like Lectra Modaris targets large companies, its file format is different from the pdf files that most home sewers use. I have been struggling with exporting the Lectra files into Adobe Illustrator and convert it into pdf files without distorting the measurements.

I know that should not be the reason for me to stop making patterns and share with sewing enthusiasts like me. And today, after I finally found out a way to make Lectra patterns work for home sewers, I present with you a simple, easy, newbie friendly pattern of a baby pants.

The reason I choose this pattern is that it is a simple pattern with only one pattern piece. As I am still on the way of learning and adjusting to the new software, I think I should start with simple pattern first – just to be sure everything is perfect, especially the grading of pattern. It is quite different grading the patterns rather than making individual patterns for each measurements. I just discovered how quick it is to use computer aided grading and I just love it! Saves me lots of time.

Now back to the pattern I am sharing today. This kind of pants is the staple in every baby’s wardrobe, you can see it in any baby clothing store for just a few dollars each. However, I just love sewing for my baby, and I have been sewing lots and lots of these pants for my baby boy since he was young. I like the feeling of him wearing things made with love by his mother 🙂

This pattern is a fail-proof one and the result is there for you right away, in just 15 minutes!

Just cut out 2 piece of the pattern, and after a few lines, you will have a pair of lovely pants for your darling! The pants have a built-in elastic waist which is about 2cm wide. Just fold the waist hem and make it a casing for the elastic.

In case your baby grows fast, I have made the hemline 2cm long. Actually with this kind of pants, you only need a 1cm hem. A 2cm hem will give you some room to adjust when your baby has long legs!

This baby pullover pants pattern is made in 6 sizes for babies from 3 months to 24 months. A size 3 is suitable for babies from 0 to 3 months old, so if your baby is 9 months old, you should choose to sew the pattern of size 12M.

The size chart is as follows (don’t worry about the waist measurements, this has an elastic waist after all):

And finally here is the link to download the pattern: Baby pullover pants size 3-24 months. Hope you enjoy sewing it!

I will try my best to provide you with more interesting patterns in the future. Cheer me up!

Love,

Tien the Little Sewist

Hi guys, I’m back!
